Houyhnhnm truth

I thought the master Houyhnhnm's statement about lying and falsehood was very interesting. The statement was that it is pointless to lie because the whole point of a language is to understand one another. I understand we lie for personal gain, but this is an interesting perspective on the topic. I wonder what other differences between human society and the Houyhnhnm's will arise because of this difference.

  1. I agree with your statement because as humans, we have flaws. Gulliver's horse master said that they (the Houyhnhnms) are perfect creatures, which could explain why they don't believe in lying for personal gain. Plus, there isn't really a currency system for the Houyhnhnm society, which is another difference between human society and the horse society. Without a currency system, there is no way for a horse to feel greedy or portray irrational feelings like humans do.
