Differences in the first two societies

It's interesting how Gulliver is brought up in both of the societies. When he is the small being, he starts at the lower class and moves up. When he's larger he meets the emperors and upper class right away. There are also differences in his observations. So far, he notices imperfections about the giants both physical and social (the farmer made showed him off to everyone and sold him cheap because of his bad health). As for the Lilliputians, he observes the upper class and marvels at their seemingly flawless government system. Although, he's too significant and large to see the blemishes in their culture.

  1. When Gulliver arrived on the island of Brobdingnag, I saw his role become reversed from that on the island of Lilliput. Like you said, Gulliver had to build up his relationship and trust with the Lilliputians. However, Gulliver always remained the dominant force which caused him to receive great care from the Lilliputians in fear of angering him. The Brobdingnagians became the dominate force when Gulliver arrived on their island. However, he was accepted right away into the society. He started off being treated well but was eventually turned into a puppet used for entertainment.
